One of my favorite heroines in literature. I wasn't as down with the "gothic" aspect of some of the scenes in that it didn't seem credible at times, but I get that this style was sometimes employed back then. For some reason, I bought the Barnes and Noble version (I also downloaded the Kindle version free), and the little notes are really quite irritating. Sometimes they are helpful, and other times I feel insulted.

This is my fifth re-read and I love this book more and more every time! Jane Eyre is the faux-autobiographical tale of Jane Eyre, an orphaned governess who moves to creepy ol’ Thornfield Hall to teach a young girl. I really can/’t tell you why I love this book so much, just that this is my favourite book of all time, and that commitment is saying something. Every single time I read this book I change my opinion on something This book is pretty big, but there is some much that goes on, so many su ...more

I heartily enjoyed the first part of the novel. little Janet was very much a pleasant little girl yet a rebellious child. Jane Eyre made its success as a novel, not just for being a sympathetic love story, but also because it is a story of a self-development. A girl who managed to assuage her rebellion to a state of peace yet lively, to find her inner will regardless of any other dictations, to be an independent woman who is able to take free choices by her own, to break free from the false vows ...more
