Oh, man!
This is my third Fredrik Backman novel and they've each been so different. This one is about a hockey town. While hockey is central to the story, he takes on other great big things. I feel that this is Frederik Backman standing up for girls and women, and for underdogs, too.
I didn't love reading it. Bullying and cruelty aren't pretty to read. There's violence, and crude jokes, and cringe-worthy "locker room talk."

A different flavor from his last two, but still excellent, marked by characters created with such details that you feel them to be real. As a girl from a small town which is also a hockey town, I feel I can vouch for this story's existence (for better or worse.)
