I love historical fiction, and Lilac Girls is about as historically loaded as fiction gets.
I liked it because I learned new things from it. This story delivers a wealth of information on Polish history and setting. Based on real events and people, it is tremendously well researched and detailed.
It was compelling to read, and I liked that there was a satisfying level of closure/resolution. Really good book.

This book is so special. Based on real historic figures, this book tells their stories in parallel paths... She provided incredible details and knows how to bring you back to that period. The writing is not as strong as could be, but I believe her novels will continue to get stronger. Read it - you'll be so glad you did.
