Jojo Moyes does historical fiction well, in this case going back to WWI. I appreciated the parts of the story set in that time, and the art and history at the core of this novel.
'The Girl You Left Behind' is the name of a painting that is the focus of two parts to the story. While I really liked part 1, I didn't care for part 2 as much. It felt, at times, improbable to me. But the ending and epilogue are very good.
