This was a charming novel. In its most simplistic form, it's a mystery. A brother and sister attempt to solve the mystery of who murdered their teacher in small MN town, with a cast of local characters. Interwoven throughout is a mystical origin story of a forest that protects the town, pitting good against evil. I enjoyed the camaraderie between the brother and sister, and especially her cleverness, determination, and innate understanding of the natural world. The book itself is beautifully bou
