I absolutely loved this magical book!!! Oh my, I'm so glad I ordered the next and only have to wait like a week...
Right from the beginning I was captivated with the story. The writing was so beautiful and it just instantly drew me in.

There were characters that I liked;such as Khlaid, Despina, and the Rajput. Overall I enjoyed Jalal as a character even though he did irk me at times. But as for the rest of the characters and even some of the world building; I was not always a fan. I felt like the magic system wasn't very fleshed out and there wasn't much explanation on how it worked.

Very conflicted on this one. This had a lot of redeeming qualities but also some things I had issues with that I think others have mentioned a lot too.

Things I liked:

This book was great. The hype probably did get the better of me so when I read the book I wasn't disappointed but I didn't see what all the hype was about therefore giving a 4 star. The story was good it was interesting and engaging. I thought the book was at its strongest at the beginning and at the very end the middle was kinda meh for me. The characters were great too. UPDATE: this was my third time reading this book and honestly I think I loved it the most this time around.

This book was so good! This is a re read for me by the way. This is a story about a young king who marries a wife everyday only to kill each one the next morning.
