This definitely wasn't as amazing as I thought it was going to be, and I definitely had my expectations WAY too high because of all of the people raving about this book! I did enjoy it though, but it was slow at the beginning and confusing and there are still things that I'm like what da hecky???? Also, it lacked a lot of world building but I really loved all of the characters, even though Safi was annoying sometimes. I LOVED Aeduan (the bloodwitch). He was such a complex character!

So I read this back in May, but ended up never rating it or writing a review. Don't know why. Well, here's what I remember about this: It's not as good as I wanted it to be, but still good enough to earn 4 stars; the friendship is cute and refreshing; I ship Safiya and Merik + Aeduan and Iseult; and I need more of Aeduan because, damn, the bloodwitch is complicated, dark, twisted and everything I need.

Lo logré!
Aún no logro entender la razón por la que me costó tanto leerlo. El libro me gustó, la historia es interesante y los personajes tienen un no sé qué muy atractivo. Tal vez fue el hecho de que lo esperé mucho y pensé que sería poco menos el mejor libro de la vida. Pero no, como todo libro tenía sus fallas, sus momentos algo aburridos y sus vacíos que te hacían preguntarte qué estaba pasando.

The world the Susan Dennard has created is so interesting and complex. Almost all of the characters were amazing. There were a few here and there that I didn't care for. The plot of the story was very interesting and it was fun to read about this world. I can't wait till the next book comes out!
