Decidí leer este libro ya que van a empezar a salir muchos spoilers por la película y me alegro mucho haberlo leído sin spoilers.
La verdad es que me esperaba mas de este libro, en general no esta mal, pero las partes de la protagonista me aburrían mucho, realmente no me ha sorprendido nada de lo que pasa ya que TODO se veía venir.
Es un libro que no esta mal y definitivamente quiero leer la segunda parte y creo que la película va a estar muy bien ya que tiene mucho potencial. Si hab ...more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. I heard about this book from my best friend, which is weird in the only way that I've been trying to get my hands on this book pretty much since it came out, and she read it before me.
I've never read an alien book. Sure, zombies, magicians, witches, wizards, vampires, werewolves... but never aliens. I don't know why, I just never felt the need to dive into their story.
But I'm so happy I did with this book!
So the beginning was a little slow. Until I got the first chapter without Cassie as a per I heard about this book from my best friend, which is weird in the only way that I've been trying to get my hands on this book pretty much since it came out, and she read it before me.
I've never read an alien book. Sure, zombies, magicians, witches, wizards, vampires, werewolves... but never aliens. I don't know why, I just never felt the need to dive into their story.
But I'm so happy I did with this book!
So the beginning was a little slow. Until I got the first chapter without Cassie as a person whose point of view I'm reading, I really liked her. And since the person whose pov we got to read was more interesting, I started to grow tired of her whining, being "not too pretty" and then the weird guy falling in love with her at once. Sure, I loved the fact that she was the person who at first wasn't driven by love, but by the love for her brother, Sams, who I adored to death! And that was literally all I thought of Cassie. The girl who wanted her brother, was kick ass, fell in love with the totally wrong dude, became desperate, saved her brother and then met her high school crush.
But Zombie. Oh god, Zombie was a totally different person. He was someone I would love to meet in the real world, and could, since his "Before-The-Others" life was pretty normal. And then the Others changed him. The whole Vosch and Reznik being really tough and macho men with him and his crew made me just love him even more. And then came Nugget and Ringer, whose personalities affected Zombie's so much that I just grew to love him even more. If I could, I'd marry the heck out of Zombie.
And then we found out who Zombie was. From Cassie's POV, which was a brilliant twist, though we had known since his second chapter. Even the fact that they met was a surprise, since I thought that in the end they'd have to battle it out against each other, because one would get brainwashed.
But they saved the world, lost creepy alien dude called Evan, who I didn't like anyway, and escaped, loosing many people in the consequences. ...more

Black sheep, spotted.

One of the most conflicting books I've ever read, for sure.I have a lot to say so I guess I'll organize it to make it somewhat easy to follow. Let the rant begin:

The first 100 pages, in my opinion, were a mistake. It didn't bother me as much because my motivation to continue reading was to finish the book. But, I definitely see why this book is a hit or miss for people, they can't get past the first part of the book! Now don' ...more

The 5th Wave didn't blow me away at the beginning. I had trouble getting into the story after that brilliant prologue. I found Cassie's first POV part on the verge of boring. I didn't like how she jumped about when trying to explain the first four 'Waves'. I was confused for a good part of it, I couldn't grasp the different things that had happened. I would have preferred a more chronological explanation of the 'Waves' and not the jumbled up version I thought we got.

This book was really good book. I enjoy reading it also had some funny parts. At first it was slow and then couple chapters in the action started. Also this book had different points of views from characters which at first I was like what it does not make sense because it does not tell you it's from another character point of view . But overall this book was a great and I will so read the next book. ...more

This was the most fast paced action packed book I have read in a while! I’ve always loved alien books and movies. Like the whole alien apocalypse thing always excited and terrified me. This book was so good I did not want to put it down. The characters also really made this book great! I’ve wanted to read this book since it first became popular YEARS ago, but I don’t know I just never got around to it. Until now.
