I wasn't lying I think I teared through most of this book. It was a very quick read because the chapters were extremely short, sometimes just one paragraph or one sentence. Sometime it was written in text form or email convos. I loved the execution and the writing style of Nicola Yoon. I know I love someone's writing when it tugs at my heart strings and that's what this book did, constantly. I can't wait to read more from Nicola Yoon! ...more

I’m not gonna do a typical review. Instead I’m gonna list all the reasons why you should pre-order it asap. And read it as soon as you get it:

It’s short, sweet and easy to read;

3.5, maaaaybe 4 stars, maybe even 3 stars. I'll have to sit on it some more.

I don't think I can express how much I disliked the "twist" if you can really call it that as it was obvious. Maybe I'm bitter because I expected this to be a 5 star read for me. Maybe I'm m just sad and emotional feeling for one characters struggles and not another's. Regardless, I'm frustrated by the design of this.

Wow. So, this book was incredible. I had such high expectations going into this book, and they were met. First of all, the characters in this book are all amazing. I fell in love with all of them. Madeline was such an interesting character. I loved watching her grow in just a few short months, and turn into a girl full of hopes and dreams and determination to fill them. Olly was such an adorable character. He was absolutely perfect for Maddy. Carla was so hilarious and sweet, you coul *4.5 stars*
Wow. So, this book was incredible. I had such high expectations going into this book, and they were met. First of all, the characters in this book are all amazing. I fell in love with all of them. Madeline was such an interesting character. I loved watching her grow in just a few short months, and turn into a girl full of hopes and dreams and determination to fill them. Olly was such an adorable character. He was absolutely perfect for Maddy. Carla was so hilarious and sweet, you couldn't help but love her. I even liked Maddy's mom, for the most part. The relationships between the characters were all so strong and developed really well. I didn't see the plot twist coming at all. I had a few ideas of how the book would end, but how it actually ended was not one of them. The artwork in this book was beautiful and really told the story well. It was definitely an amazing touch to the book. The writing style was also gorgeous. This book was full of quotes that I had to write down because of how powerful they were.
There were a few issues that I saw, which is why I didn't rate this 5 stars. First, I didn't understand why the majority of the items in the book were all white. All of Maddy's clothes were white, her furniture was white, her walls were white. So many things were white, but I don't know why. That was never explained, but I just don't understand the purpose of it. Another issue I had was with some of the images. Some of the images had mistakes in them or didn't make a lot of sense. For example, there was an image that was taking place in present day (the book takes place in 2015), but it's dated as 2014. The phone images were also a little confusing because things were switched on the phones, which was kind of weird. The third issue I had was the progressing of the relationship between Maddy and Olly. It seemed really insta-lovey at first, but it got better as time went on. The fourth, and final issue I had with this book was the idea that Maddy was so close to the neighbors that she could hear their conversations and see details of rooms by looking in the windows. Yes, I know there are houses that are built extremely close together, but I just never got that vibe during the story. I just imagines this as a normal neighborhood where the houses are spaced a good ways apart. So, it kind of bothered me that that part went unexplained as well. Maybe it was supposed to be common sense, but I would've liked to have had a little bit more development in that part of the story.
Overall, I loved this book. It was my most anticipated release of 2015, and I got it 13 days after it's release, and I just now read it. But, now was the perfect time for me to read it. I can't wait to read everything else Nicola Yoon writes in the future. ...more

There was so much hype around this book...is that why I couldn't rate it 5 stars?
I really enjoyed this read, and for people who don't read contemporary books often, this would be UTTER PERFECTION. Alas! That is not the case for me, as even though I liked this, I didn't love it... Butit wasn't an average read either. I thought that it had great morals, great characters and great plot direction.
Only thing is...how could you spend your whole life inside and not go looking round your house for proof ...more

This is until Olly's family moves in next door and changes her life. I loved the characters from this book and how they were described. They are normal people with flaws like everyone but even when it looked that someone was doing something wrongs you knew that they were doing for a reason. Maddy is a great character that tries to live her life as normal as she can but starts to feel that she wants more after meeting Olly. I also loved how Olly felt the need to protect Maddy and everyone around him especially after knowing what he was going through. The scenes between the two of them were so cute, funny and sweet that I could read a lot more pages of that. In the beginning it looks like it is an instalove thing but due to Maddy's situation and because it was so well written it was something that didn't bug me as much as normally would.

This book might seem short but the characters development is great and you can see the difference in the characters at the end of the book, especially Maddy. Not only that but I also loved how the chapters in this book were organized and how it wa filled with illustrations that were important for the story. The most important for me was how the end was left open to the reader's imagination and how amazingly this was done.

Overall, this was a beautifully well-written book and was one of my favorites of the year so far. I loved everything about it and anything I write about this book will not make any justice to it. You should definitely read this book. I look forward to read more books written by Nicola Yoon. ...more

This book is very fast read. At times i felt the drawings were not necessary to the story but made the book read faster. Its about a 17 year old girl who is allergic to everything and lives trapped in her house. One day a boy moves in next door and her life changes. Did not see the twist at the end. Great enjoyable read.
