I'm sorry to say that we all found this book very disappointing. The blurb had made it sound as though it would be a hilarious romp! The idea was good; five pensioners rebel against the increasingly harsh regime in their retirement home by committing crimes to raise money and to get themselves put in prison (where they think life will be a lot easier), but, despite some interesting and likeable characters and amusing plot-points, we felt that it dragged in the middle and several of us gave up on

I wanted to like this as it was such a fresh take on a heist novel,but I just didn't take to it. I thought it was too long and I didn't like any of the characters that much. It didn't make me laugh and,well,I just didn't like it much. I did wonder if perhaps this translation was at fault, because I felt it lumbered along rather clumsily.
