This month, the Wednesday group each read a different 'Maigret' story (by Georges Simenon), then compared notes. We all commented on the different, slower, pace of the novels compared with more modern authors, which some of us found irritating, and we enjoyed the conciseness of the writing - each book is quite short - and the atmosphere created by Simenon's descriptions of character and place.
