The Wild Woods is about Jess; an adventurous girl who wants to keep a squirrel but her grandad was not sure and continuously questions her ability to look after the squirrel. Jess follows the squirrel throughout the woods, with her grandad closely following. Eventually she realises that she cant take the squirrel home but really enjoyed her time in the woods and would like to come back the following day.
The story has good and simple vocabulary which ensures clear understanding. Additionally, the story contains alot of colour and exciting illustrations.
I like the way the author narrated the story with pictures. I anticipate the book to be suitable for a Y2-Y3 class. It would be good for general reading, creative writing and developing the imagination of children.
