The structure is unique - pretty much one sentence paragraphs. The POV shifts from first person to omniscient third. The imagery is astounding - were I highlighting, nearly the entire book would be highlighted. I cried and laughed and cried some more. Love the cover. Look for it come August. I would also be curious to see how it is produced as an audiobook.
This was a great book! Sad but funny. Great example of what a 'family' really is.

I found this to be a very touching book. The main character is an extremely intelligent girl, probably in the profoundly gifted range. Because of her interests and oddities, she has never fit in, especially at school, but until her parents are both killed in a car crash, she was able to deal with the world on her own terms. After the accident, her world is completely destroyed. The odd assortment of characters that eventually come to her aid are fully realized and believable.

"When you care about other people, it takes the spotlight off your own drama." This quote from the book summarizes the main idea of this remarkable YA novel. Willow Chance is an intriguing character. You can't help but love her right off. I found myself laughing at her very serious but silly (in a way) remarks. The parallel analogy between Willow's life and growing a garden was wonderful.
