You definitely shouldn't read this without a refresher course on the previous three books in the quartet, but this is a highly satisfying and masterful conclusion to the series, converging all of the stories from the previous books. Fans of the previous books will not be disappointed! ...more

Son by Lois Lowry - Science Fiction - Fifth grade and up. wow. Most powerful of books I've read in a long time. Read within a day since I actually had time to focus on it. Wow. Because I've read Giver many times, I was able to remember some of the details that I would not usually remember years after the original reading. Therefore, I was able to relate to the setting and happenings in SON very clearly, which made it a really wonderful read. The book is divided into three parts, all very different and enjoyable in their own way. Lois Lowry is certainly and wonderful writer and fantastic storyteller! ...more
