Kate DiCamillo does it again! This follow up to her hilarious and heart-breaking Raymie Nightingale is every bit as good as the companion novel. You will cheer for Louisiana Elefante.
Even more delightful on the second reading. Great choice for our Mother/Daughter Book Group.

Holy pineapple upside down cake.
This is a good one, folks.
A companion story to Raymie Nightingale, I daresay this one is even better, if that is at all possible.
Prolific and varied master storyteller, Kate DicCamillo, snuck in so many "aha" moments into this quick little read. She also managed to tell an elephant (or is that elefante?) story in a brief amount of time---less than a week by my count.

Filed under Baking books too for the many cakes being baked at Louisiana’s friend’s home. Pineapple upside down, marble and pound cake...made my mouth water though I may not have wanted to win the pineapple upside down cake either...

Louisiana has always been raised by her grandmother but now her grandmother has taken her on a road trip and then left her behind. She learns truths about her family, where she came from, and those that truly can help her.
