I adore Callie Vee and was happy to revisit her world and admire her interest in science. I was not so happy with the recording though. The narrator did a nice enough performance, especially embodying Callie's intelligence and spunk, but her adult male voices all sounded the same. The pace of this book is even slower than the first and slightly more episodic than its predecessor. I always try to find the reader for The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate but everyone turns me down, which I am quite sad

This is the second book about Calpurnia Tate (who lives in Texas in the late 1800s). She wants to be a scientist but her mother wants her to be a lady. Luckily, she has a grandfather who encourages her interest in science. This would be a great book to read to make connections to social issues (gender equality), for scientific concepts (Callie builds a barometer and predicts the terrible hurricane that hits Galveston as well as identifying and dissecting animals) and for ethical treatment of ani
