Wow! Not a huge fan of novels in verse but once I fell into the rhythm of this book I couldn't put it down. Very powerful story about a young boy who is airlifted out of Vietnam during the war. Despite a loving adoptive family, he carries with him the weight of what he left behind. His path to healing is amazing.

Although placed with a loving American foster family, he is haunted by his memories of the younger brother and mother he had to leave behind. This is a beautifully-written work.
