It started out quite refreshing, such a nice change of voice from an author that writes copy that just flows so well, and is obviously intelligently written. But then it just got a bit too repetitive, not in wording or plot or themes, but in the digressions and tangents of the story - it was like if you asked the main character to walk from here to the mailbox describing his journey along the way, you'd never see him again because every stone under his foot, ever leaf fluttering by in the wind,

This story is so surprising that I'm not really sure what to say about it.
There doesn't seem to be anything very science fiction about the book at the beginning. A few bits and pieces but nothing dramatic. It is the story of a young man and his adopted family and his career path, until it's about the apocalyptic events that happen and their bizarre outcome and the fabulous twist ending. Which if you're really paying attention to the story you might not be as surprised as some but I wouldn't bet ...more
