Hey! Everyone! This is a pretty awesome literature nerd's playground. :)
I kinda expected something like a UF first-person mystery novel with magical elements where characters jump out of the pages of books and make a mess of things, or vice-versa, where we jump in and make a hash of a perfectly good story, but I didn't expect the novel to have a lot of complicated character elements in our main characters, a nicely complicated plot ...more

Notes:
Finally read a book by J. Fforde. =)
Susan Duerden was okay as the narrator. She has a great knack with voices but the regular narration voice was too bland. She has a soft voice and speaks slowly. 2x audio speed sounds like normal speaking speed. Between the soft voice, slow speed & bland (non character) narration, it was really easy to tune out.
Yay for libraries! That's how I got this audio.

I picked this book up a long time ago, read a couple of chapters and decided it was boring, and put it back down. I really am glad I gave it another try - I felt completely differently this time. I liked the combination of literature, mystery, and time travel, but my favorite part by far was seeing all of Mycroft's inventions. I'd be happy to spend an entire book just exploring his workshop.
