Case is a drug addict who gets involved in high level crime using technology. The problem is Gibson uses so much of his own language to describe his world that it takes work to get into the book and figure out the storyline and how the technology works. This was a ground-breaking work when published roughly 25 years ago and really spawned the cyberpunk sub-genre. But, of course, whenever you do a bit of groundbreaking, you inevitably have a bit of a mess that future submissions tend to scrub away. So. This is not the best cyberpunk novel that I have read, but it was definitely worth re-reading.

I tried to read this and it made no sense... but then I borrowed the book-on-CD from the library and LOVED it! There is much to be said for someone reading aloud to you....especially if they understand what they are reading. In this instance, the author himself read the book and it really made a difference to me.

Absolutely love this book. Everything that I always like about the genre of Cyberpunk, finds its origins here. I cant believe I hadn't read this book sooner.
