Eureka!...Hallelujah!...I've had a wondrous epiphany!
I finally get it...I have seen the light and understanding has dawned. Gibson’s manifest brilliance has revealed itself to me and I am left humbled and quivering in AWE.

Case is a drug addict who gets involved in high level crime using technology. The problem is Gibson uses so much of his own language to describe his world that it takes work to get into the book and figure out the storyline and how the technology works. Like classic sci-fi, the author has invented technology that advances the storyline but interest is divided between the plot and the fascinating futuristic inventions. This was a ground-breaking work when published roughly 25 years ago and really spawned the cyberpunk sub-genre. But, of course, whenever you do a bit of groundbreaking, you inevitably have a bit of a mess that future submissions tend to scrub away. So. This is not the best cyberpunk novel that I have read, but it was definitely worth re-reading.

This novel made me feel like I was dropped into a completely unfamiliar situation and not given a chance to get my bearings before the wild ride ensued,

I tried to read this and it made no sense... but then I borrowed the book-on-CD from the library and LOVED it! There is much to be said for someone reading aloud to you....especially if they understand what they are reading. In this instance, the author himself read the book and it really made a difference to me.
