What Members Thought

As always, I will avoid going into describing a synopsis of the book, you can read that up there ^^. After I finished the book, I was really surprised when I found out that this was Abercrombie's debut novel as it didn't feel like a debut at all. Sure, there were the occasional rough spots but they were so minor that they didn't matter. Anyway, I like to do my reviews with positive and negative points so let's start with that.

The start of the best fantasy series I've read in years. Brutal, gritty, and unflinching; reminds me of Glen Cook's Black Company books, although I think I prefer this trilogy overall. That's high praise.

don't know what to say abut this book, I wanted to love it, I honestly did, but it felt shallow and clumsy, a half hearted attempt at dark and gritty, I mean when one sees a book with blood on it's cover, and a blade in it's name, one would have expectations, which in my case weren't met, the events were so predictable to me I was waiting for them to happen, part of the reason I could predict them is that I read the books they came from, ok that's harsh, but one can't ignore the OBVIOUS similari
