What a dark bleak world he describes, this is definitely not a city that finds a place on your list of cities to visit before you die. The author does an incredible job of describing this city and its inhabitants, and I found thoroughly enjoyable reading the words that describe his vivid imagination. When it comes to weird, outside the box sci-fi/fantasy, China Miéville is as good as it gets. Perdido Street Station is probably in my top ten or twenty favorite books. Not that I can really make such a list.
last finished this on the 1st May 2009 so re-read it this week (3rd july2013).
I still enjoyed this as much as i did the first time i read it, the descriptions of new crobuzon and its citizens were fantastic and so detailed. The city was that well detailed this book either need a followup or a different story set in the city.
