I think this book was well written and interesting at times. If your looking for an autobiography that is easy to read, I would suggest this book. He goes into extensive detail during all of the struggles and events of his upbringing during the world war 2 and the great depression. Personally, this genre of books didn't really appeal to me and I didn't enjoy it as much as one would if they were interested in these types of books. ...more

Growing up was a very well written, easy to read book but it just wasn't my favorite type of book to read. Russell Baker tells of his life during World War II and the Great Depression and what it was like growing up during those difficult times. He narrates this story in his point of view while also including his mothers thoughts and opinions as well. ...more

Personally, I enjoyed this book. I like to read true stories about people growing up in the past. If you are not interested in the past or memoirs, I would not recommend this book. If you enjoy true stories I would recommend it. It is an interesting and easy read.
