Apparently, these books are all the rage with teen and tween girls right now. I decided to check them out. Honestly, I really wanted to give both Twilight and New Moon more stars...the story is great. The thing is, I'm not so sure about the way Bella, the main character, is portrayed. She is obsessed with Edward in the first book and then completely depends on Jacob in the second. We see no strong female relationships in the story (although Bella and Alice become somewhat close). I love this series and can not wait for the movie to come out this winter. Or the 4th and final book of the series this August. My oldest son, Adin (14), turned me on to this series. I figured I should read it because he is so into it and recommmending it to everyone. This is a perfect book for all ages!!!!! My 11 year old step-daughter even loves it.
An incredible read. Young adult fiction at its best. If Stephanie Meyer's can keep this story as interesting as it is now, I'm headed for a great time. Please don't let the subject matter or the fact that this series is found in YA keep you from exploring this new and exciting author.

Excellent vampire book. Atypical. Liked the characters better than the plot, but it was a great twist.
