What Members Thought
This book is one I have found to be very rare. It is written for middle grade students, yet, it tackles really difficult topics in a sophisticated manner. Usually books dealing with serious issues sugar coat things and make the novel disingenuous. I never felt this way with this novel. I thought the characters seemed flawed and believable. I never felt the author pulled any punches. I love that and I know because of this my students will enjoy the book as well.
