This one hit real close to home.......
I don't know how much this would have touched me had I not been raised in a town similar to Forrestville (LITERALLY- I come from a town that has the exact same population and has a Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park within the county. So, needless to say, Dill, Travis, Lydia and I had lots in common with our upbringings.)

I stumbled across this by chance. The Serpent King is a realistic fiction story that is in the vein of John Green, Rainbow Rowell, and Matthew Quick. It tells the story of three high school seniors in Forrestville, Tennessee. Lydia has good parents, great fashion sense, and connects with the people of the world easily (just not the narrow-minded ones in her community necessarily).
