Forget the YA label, this is flat-out one of the best stories I've read in awhile. I am hesitant to call this book important because reading important books can feel like a chore, but it so is right now. Important and funny and poignant and relatable. I was sad when the book was over. ...more

Gritty, realistic, and hopeful, this book should be required reading for mature teens. Once again, literature reminds me of the opportunities afforded to me because of my skin color.

I love the family relationships; full of love and concern for each other rather than just themselves (which is how parents/kids relationships seem to be portrayed in the books i read)

It is a timely nov
