I kept seeing this book everywhere. It was making the buzz featuring a very hot topic: young black people being shot by police officers while unarmed.
My curiosity reached maximum level and when I was visiting Denver I made my mission to drag my family to Tattered Bookstore just to find this title.
Mission accomplished plus some other books in my bag and a grumpy husband as I spent way too much time in a bookstore.

A powerful book with a strong heroine voice. I really loved this book. I hardly ever get emotional to the point of tears but this book got me there. This book is relevant to the current temperature of society, but if you’re thinking that you won’t be able to understand or relate to Starr and her family, you’re probably right. But that’s not why you should read the book. You should read the book especially if you can’t relate, because there are characters in this book you can relate to. And that ...more
