I read this book because it was nominated for a Golden Sower. My first attempt only got me in about 15 pages. Then, months later, I downloaded the audiobook version of the novel. The reader took some getting used to (she had a hard, guttural quality to the edge of her words) but, a few days in to my commute (when I do my listening) I was hooked. This was rather slow to start for me. I had to put it down and come back to it when I was more in the mood for it. Once I got about halfway, things started to get more interesting. I liked the characters and I am intrigued to see where they go from here and what kind of development will take place. Overall, not a bad start to a series.
