I started reading this book in the summer of 2013, and I’ve been picking it up and putting it back down throughout the past 2 and a half years because I could never get into the story. I finally just decided to get the audiobook because I didn’t think I’d ever finish it otherwise. It had been so long since the last time I put it down, I just decided to start over from scratch, and I ended up liking the story. The audiobook narrator, Jim Dale, is awesome. This book had been recommended to me by a friend, and after reading the back cover, I was intrigued, but I still didn't read it. I bought it later and downloaded it to my kindle, where it then stayed for several months. After traveling across an ocean and a continent, I grew bored of looking out the window. This is honestly one of the best books I've read in a while. I expected the magic part of it to be overdone, but instead what I found was a world of illusion, of gentle and descriptive magic, a beautiful enmeshment of the real world and the magic we wish we could find around every corner--and maybe we could find it if we tried.
