Probably like a 3.5

I liked the world building & characters, but it got too cliche romanceish for me in the last half, and I got a bit impatient with how long it kept the reader in suspense for answers. But enjoyable, I'll probably finish the trilogy. ...more

This story was so great. The characters are all so vividly described, and I now have a strong desire to visit Prague because it sounds absolutely beautiful. Karou is awesome! Her snarkiness and sass speak to me on a deep level, but she also has vulnerability and insecurity, and I identify with her fear of being alone in the world. Her friend Zuzanna is exactly the kind of friend everyone should have, and her personality is a great fit for Karou’s. But don’t even get me started on Akiva. I love m ...more

I actually really really like this book...a lot.
I struggle between giving it 4 and 5 starts because of how slow it began. I can understand character building and even environment building, but the whole bit about Karou's ex adds nothing to the story. I also have a hard time believing the 'love' aspect of the story just because of how emotionless it was presented. ...more
