A SecUnit’s job is to protect its clients from anything that wants to kill or hurt them, and to gently discourage them from killing, maiming, etc., each other. This was intense. I love the Murderbot diaries and this installment reminded me of all the reasons why. The authors pulls off a not quite SecUnit, not quite human protagonist who can hit all the right buttons of my sensibilities as a reader.
The story is fast -paced and nice, with the right amount of tension. The characters are are interesting even for a novella format and I can’t wait to see what our (yes, our) self-styled Murderbot has learnt from the experience.

I think it would be hard for me not to enjoy a Murderbot novel, but as Murderbot novels go, they’re all starting to sound the same.
Much the same as in Artificial Condition, Murderbot is on the hunt for evidence of the Company’s shady business. This time, it takes him to Milu, a terraforming project inexplicably abandoned by GrayCris. There, as usual, he meets some useful humans in need of rescuing.
