I want life. Not my own, but theirs. Every life but my own. But I try not to think about that either, because thinking leads to wanting and wanting always, inevitably, leads to taking.

This was a wonderfully rich, atmospheric thriller. Kenna keeps people at arms length because she's afraid to touch them. She can feel the life energy inside them and has the ability to drain it out. But if she does, she begins to crave more and worries that once she starts, she will never be able to stop.

A young girl faces choices of life and death from a early age to face a destiny shaped by an ancient mythology.

That's the haunting first line of this wonderful book as we get introduced to Kenna, a 17-year old musician with a dark power that she's had to suppress since she was 10.
