I wanted to read Haymitch’s story and waited quite impatiently for it to come to fruition. Knowing everything that I did, it still broke me! I had an idea what was going to happen, but I didn’t expect the sheer cruelty of it. While I think I would have liked to his story without knowing anything about Haymitch; I don’t think the story would have held my interest or been as powerful.

-Spice: Some kisses, but not enough for a spice chili.
-Violence: Yep! Lots and lots! Very brutal and bloody.
-Shelf Worthy: Sadly no.
I was very hesitant on whether or not I was even going to read this book. I didn't read the previous Snow spin-off, mostly because I just have no interest on how he ended up turning to the dark side. A story full of love, rebellion, and tenacity. Opens your eyes to the events leading up to the original trilogy and it was oh so perfectly paced. This one is gonna live rent free in my head 😌
