So this book is a little hard to get into because it begins with mystery. Fair warning this book has a lot of gross things in it. Think the weird nursey rhyme, "the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out..." But man was it interesting. I was immediately engaged because it's the best type of weird. I wanted to know more and more about the parasite they were studying and the mysteries surrounding the school. I loved the way the two love interests spoke to each other in that they were all consuming wi

I wanted to like this book more. The science in it, even though not 100% real, was so very interesting and I really enjoyed that aspect. The spice was good too. I think there were just too many things on top of the professor/student trope that made it feel cluttered. Secret society, missing dead brother, mysterious death of mother, creepy thug friend of the "dad" figure. I would've been happy with like half of those things lol.

okay, okay. I read it. In the end i did like it quite a bit. It took forever for this one to take off, i'd say a good third of the way through before much of anything really started happening for me. I liked how Lilia stayed true to being who she was and not suddenly turning into a "oh help me, woe is me" type of FMC as soon as Devryck started showin

This is a dark, gothic romance academia book with a morally gray love interest. I was enjoying it. There's a lot of action and conflict. Lilia's mother dies tragically because she was infected by nasty black parasitic worms. Devryck is studying the black parasitic worms because he has an autoimmune disease that he's trying to cure himself of. Lilia is poor but given the opportunity to go to Dracadia University, an Ivy League school where she meets Devryck who is her older professor. Another roma
