4 stars. Was this necessary? Not really. But I am so damn glad that it exists. I really like the Scythe series and the world that Shusterman has created within it so I was all over this short story collection. While not all of them were that interesting the collection as a whole was great. My favorite story was ‘Perchance to Glean’ which is the second to last one. It was a wild adventure and so much fun. Overall, a very good collection of stories that really does build upon the original trilogy. ...more

Fuck, I missed being in this world so much.

I was a bit curious as to why this book is marked 3.5 in the series if it deals with stories of Scythes both before and during the events of the books. But I did appreciate the stories that made hints at what happened after the end.

Favourite stories include A Death of Many Colors, A Martian Minute, The Persistence of Memory, Meet Cute and Die, and A Dark Curtain Rises.

Na vrácení do světa smrtek jsem se moc těšila. Bohužel to vůbec nebylo takové jaké jsem očekávala. Tak nějak jsem si myslela, že budeme víc vracet k postavám, které jsme během původní trilogie poznali. A přestože tu pár takových povídek je, tak velká většina jsou povídky o postavách zcela nových.

Moje nejoblibenější povídka s přehledem Marsovská minuta, ve které se podíváme, co se přesně stalo na kolonii na Marsu. Zajímavá také byla povídka Cirrové, která je sice krátká, ale poskytuje pěkný náhle ...more

I really enjoyed diving back into the world of the Scythes. The different stories were all interesting to read, with different viewpoints and events occurring within. The writing styles were different, but all cohesive within the anthology. The stories touched on so many different aspects of life in the Scythedom, and different experiences. We had Scythe, Unsavoury, regular people, all intermingled.

What a treat to return to the world of scythe! Every one of these stories adds to the original trilogy and allows the reader to explore places and people that have previously only been mentioned in passing.
Honestly there will never be enough stories from the Arc of Scythe!
