as a biotech engineer at kline, a start-up making gains in food science, rue siebert has much more security than she grew up with. but in comes eli killgore and his team. they want kline, threatening all the stability rue worked so hard for. the two are torn between loyalty to their respective companies and attraction toward each other.

this was a lot different than other ali hazelwood books, which was fine by me, especially since she did take the time to point this out before ...more

Read as a BOTM book so posting in my thoughts from there.

Chapters 1-10
There was an authors note that said this was more erotica romance than comedic and I think that changes the tone of the book... It's not going to feel the same as Ali Hazelwood's other books and I think that is true.

I kind of have some mixed feelings about this book. I honestly didn’t love it or even remotely like it for the first 60% of the book. The last 40% was better, which is why I ended up giving this book 3 stars instead of 2. I had a hard time connecting with the characters. I really couldn’t care less for them. Once they both started opening up a little more, they became better. Also I felt like her reasoning behind the whole spicy part that was a huge plot point just made absolutely no sense to me ...more
