I did like this one. It was the same narrator as the rest. I liked that we got to see a lot of the old characters in this book. This one was different from the rest though because they spent most of their time in the regular world and not the others. Interesting concept for this one, but it didn’t pull me in as much as I wanted. However, the ending was unexpected.

4 stars. Definitely one of my favorites in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. I loved the messages here of self acceptance and identity. There were some heavier things but I think McGuire handled them with a lot of care and respect. My heart hurt for the characters a lot but it was never too dark or heavy.

I had forgotten the series and I’m so glad I found it again. The stories are so intricate it’s crazy that the books are so short. I love how weird the doors are and the concept in general is beyond my imagination and I enjoy every time I live vicariously through the children.

It was okay. Cora is not really my favorite character. She throws a lot of pity parties for herself, and I get kind of tired of it. I was frustrated because she got herself into this situation that really wasn't needed. I was more irritated when the rescuer shows up with no real plans. I want to love this series, but every book I read in it is just okay. Unpopular opinion. I'll keep reading them, maybe I'll love one eventually.
