I am going to have to include Rebecca Yarros among my top favorite authors. I didn't even realize all the books of hers that I've read, but I've read six and I gave all of them 5 stars.
I love me some dragons! I loved the world-building, how the dragons bonded with their riders and even picked them. I loved all of the gryphons and other creatures. The characters...LOVED Violet. Thought I hated Xaden but just had to change my mind by the end of the book.

I enjoyed this book far more than I thought I was going to, mainly because I don't like books written in first person. I will say it being in first person did put me off for a while but I wanted to try it because it's popular and I like dragons. So I am pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it.

It 10000% deserves ALL the hype!
Within the first chapter I was hooked. I'm not usually into dragons and honestly that's what kept me away, fearing it would be everywhere. Xaden is exactly what I wanted for a moody MMC. Not as damaged as I usually prefer but I guess our toxic traits can be in every book lol. Violet is a 20 something FMC I didn't want to punch through the book, which is pretty major for a YA fantasy.

It took me a hot minute to get into the book, but when things really started to get interesting I was hooked. The ending. Holy crap. Here for it. All of it.
