I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Bride. It wasn't bad, but it needed something. Some parts were slow and didn't pick up until 60-70% into it, I almost DNF'd it around 30%.
The world was great and I liked the concept of this, but it wasn't executed the best, imo

I think that this was, for me, the right book at the right time. I enjoyed it a lot, and I was completely invested in the characters and in their story. I was completely immersed in the book, and every time I put it down all I wanted to do was go back to it.
And this is, mainly, because as I said, it was the book I was really in the mood for. Mind me, the book is not bad, at all, but it is not this masterpiece, either.

4 stars. I’m in the camp of The Love Hypothesis was extremely mid and her other adult books look like the same stories so I’m in no rush to get to those. However, once I saw that she was venturing into paranormal romance I just had to see how she would do. I’m honestly very impressed because this was so good. I had a few nitpicks but they weren’t anything major.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. All thoughts and opinions about are my own.
Seeing authors branch out from what they normally write, is usually an anxious and exciting time. I love seeing authors challenge themselves and break the mold that they might have formed for themselves. I have to say, I’m glad Hazelwood broke out of the mold to write this one.

My first Hazelwood book was a success!
This was a fun book and I liked the world it was set in. Having werewolves and vampires be common species that are trying to live peacefully with scared humans made for an interesting setting. I also thought the pacing was well done. It's a slow burn, but the build up was nice and the mystery of what happened to Misery's friend added an extra aspect. ...more

This boom is a solid 4.5 stars. It is also very cliche and at the same time different from Ali Hazelwood’s other books. I did enjoy the fantasy aspects of it so that made it more interesting than her usual. She doesn’t REALLY describe her characters well so I couldn’t really picture them aside from the basic description of the species but it’s fine. The love story was fun and entertaining and the main characters were not bad. Overall good book!
