I'm not entirely sure how I feel about Bride. It wasn't bad, but it needed something. Some parts were slow and didn't pick up until 60-70% into it, I almost DNF'd it around 30%.
The world was great and I liked the concept of this, but it wasn't executed the best, imo

I'm a sucker for a good vampire/werewolf story and I was anxiously awaiting this one to come out. But alas, I did not love it.
Ancient rivalries between species and a marriage to unite them is pretty much the basis of this story. Tensions have always been high between vampire, werewolves and the humans. In order to save the vampires from their dwindling numbers, they make a marriage deal with the wolves. Of course, there's more to the deal then anyone knows.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this one, especially because it's different to Hazelwood's norm, but it was amazing! Normally paranormal/urban fantasy isn't for me, but this enemies to lovers marriage of convenience no hiding feelings was perfection. I just wish GR did half stars because this is a 4.5. I can't wait for it to be out in the world for everyone to read (big thanks to @Hachettenz for sending this ARC my way). Plus the fact it's a fantasy STANDALONE, how amazing.

This book gave me major Urban Fantasy nostalgia, in the best way possible! Those classic UF vibes, with Hazelwood's signature wit and sharp character work... I was hooked from the beginning.
The characters were engaging, the dynamic between them was electric, and the villains were perfectly villainous. The world-building hit that perfect sweet spot: immersive without being overkill.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I did find it to be a little predictable and even if I wasn't able to predict the twists they definitely didn't take me by surprise. A well written story chock full of all the popular tropes: enemies to lovers, found family, a cute child, arranged marriage etc. I think Ali Hazelwood really manages to prove to you that she came out the fanfiction scene with this one given not only the topic (paranormal romance + wolf shifters) but also with some of the details wit

I devoured this book in 2 days - my first by Hazelwood. This vampyre - werewolf book gave me everything, a quirky vampire with trust issues (rightly so), an alpha werewolf with trust issues, species that don't get along and a tense, drama filled standoff.

It was alright in some parts, annoying in others. Ive been super reluctant to pick up AH's books because everything the raving reviews talk about are things I detest . Navel gazey, neurosis treatment by way of writing is well and good on tumblr or AO3 but not in a published mainstream book.
The story was bland, the character of Lowe was bland, Misery read like the current crop of confused 30 year olds who are still stuck at 22 in their heads (and probably consider themselves still young adults) l ...more
