I thought this book was okay, but I feel like it was one that needed to be written. I did sob like a baby. In my car. On my way to work. It's fine. I think this book was great in the way that it shows a woman's mentality when she is in an abusive relationship. Because it is true, a lot of people think it's easier to leave than it really is. One of my favorite books Colleen Hoover has written. This was an intense exploration of toxic relationships and what makes them harmful. The author's note truly made this book hit harder because it was based on Hoover's own family experiences. This book is HEAVY, but oh so important. Like all of Colleen Hoover's books, it is fast-paced and hard to put down.

This is my first Colleen Hoover novel and it won't be my last. The author did such a great job developing characters and a story that is emotional and realistic. I loved all of the main characters and felt such empathy for them in all of their struggles.

The naked truth... Wow this book really hits you in the feels. It's heartbreaking going through Lily's story. Ryle is portrayed well in this as well. She did a really good job or accurately writing a story and how this kind of situation really plays out. I loved the ending.

I have a lot to say, and it took me a bit to figure out how to form this review. I’ve battled back and forth about if what I didn’t like was the content or if it was the writing. Of course, I don’t like the content because it is a story of abuse and manipulation at the end of the day. But well written, it would have felt different to me. The writing felt cheap.
