This was great.
I wanted to like Ryle. I did like him. I hurt for him, even though there is no excuse for his behavior. I hurt for Lily. I hurt for her mother.
It really shows how complicated love, relationships, abuse, etc are. The emotional toll those things take on people is massive.
I was happy and sad reading this book.

I haven’t sobbed while reading a book since Where the Red Fern Grows back in 5th grade. This damn book had my reaching for the giant Kleenex box SEVEN times! Such a great story. This book had me remembering my first love back in high school that never truly faded, the pure bliss of relationships going right, and the heartbreak when it all goes horribly wrong.
