What if you could visit a café and over coffee venture into the past? Sounds interesting right? Well, what if it was a list of rules that sound hard to follow, and nothing you actually do in the past affects the present in any way?
I really liked this story. It was a series of stories that were interconnected. Every person who took the trip got what they needed and each story had an emotional punch, at least for me.

Maybe I'm being too harsh with my rating because I had such high hopes for it. But I'm bitter at what could have been and what I ended up listening to, which was a lot of hours of the same three rules repeated over and over.

2.5 stars. The message of this book was good and couple of the surprise connections were cool, but the book itself didn’t keep my interest very well. I think maybe the writing style just wasn’t for me. And there were a lot of characters I had a hard time keeping track of, and therefore wasn’t very invested in them.
For that reason, maybe the physical book would’ve been a better choice for me than the audio. But on the flip side of that, I may have DNF’d it physically because I struggled to stay ...more

I read the 2nd book first which is actually a little better than this one. It seems quite stilted & everything is explained twice, first in dialogue & then in the narrative. While the characters feelings were explained, they actually read more like emotionless puppets. One story was interesting but they were all the same in the end.
And the moral of the story is, make an adjustment to your attitude & events will appear to be different in the rearview mirror, & then you'll be a happier, more w ...more
