I'd heard really good things about this book and I know how good V.E. Schwab is, but this one blew me away! I thought this story was amazingly beautiful, both in its writing and the storyline. This book brought out all my ugliest emotions but also the best. I have some kind of connection with any character that talks about books and that normally draws me in because of my love for books! I do everything I can to foster a love of books in my grandchildren.

I loved this book. I thought it was such an interesting twist on the demon deal for your soul. And I love that there's nothing really special about Addie except the fact that she's fucking stubborn and strangely enough that she knows what she wants. Like her deal was supposed to be a trick and force her to give up sooner than she would have liked to but in reality she knew what she wanted and regardless of the way if she got it she ended up getting the freedom that she asked for. I loved how she

I really really liked this book. It’s really a 4.5. The only reason it isn’t a 5 star is because of the repetitive in the narration. Not necessarily a bad thing but just not my thing.
Anyone who knows me knows I love anything of French origin. Add in a bit of magic, a fluctuating timeline and a bit of romantic dalliance and I am on board.

This book took me so long to finish this book, not because it wasn't interesting but because it did take a while to dive into the meat. I enjoyed Addie's story and the twists really surprised me. I do find it problematic that she falls for the bad guy initially but in the end she seems like the smartest one. I like the time jumping to show her life a bit but some of the time it did get repetitive. Overall this is a 4.5 stars.

A beautifully written book. This is a story that had a good start and a good ending, but the middle dragged a bit. I found two of the main charaters, Addie and Henry, to be likable and engaging when they were introduced. Even the villain of the story was engaging and likable at times. I really liked how realistically the author described Henry and his depression. Tis is my first book by this author and would definitely read another V.E. Schwab creation.
