When I first started this book, I had to put it down for a few days. I just wasn't pulled into the story. But after I pushed myself to continue reading the book and Anthony Doerr's beautiful prose washed over me, I gained new respect for the imagery and details he included in the descriptions of the characters and their surroundings.
