What Members Thought

I preferred Uprooted. This had all the makings of a lavish, gorgeous fairy tale and in many ways that is what it was. I very much enjoyed the first half before I started to feel bogged down. I put the book away for a while and returned to it just this week. I found my interest in the story patchy. I would read it with absorption for a while and then feel ‘stuck’ again, my interest waning. Beautiful evocative writing, but the tale itself was bloated with too many viewpoints.

All the stars!!!

An absolutely wondrous folklore retelling. My heart is full. ❤️

This is a review of the Audible version, and I've put the whole lot in spoilers. This rating may be reviewed if I read the physical book but I need a break! (Please don't hate me - I know how popular this book is!)

A wonderfully magical story that I wish I had picked up sooner. The Winter King, the Staryks, the magic...and that ending...all of it was perfection. If you enjoy reading fairytale retellings and/or books with found families then add this one to your TBR. It has such strong female characters, which I love, and multiple POVs. Naomi Novik's writing is amazing. She weaves this story together so seamlessly. I have decided that I will pick up anything she writes. This would also be a great book to re

I struggled with the rating of this book, because I absolutely loved it, but I also felt like it drug on in certain parts. Ultimately, I decided 4.5 would be the appropriate rating for this. Spinning Silver read like a fairy tale, although the different perspectives could get a little confusing at times, and sometimes I wondered why even have a certain character's perspective there at all. And then some didn't even felt necessary to have their own perspective at all. But, overall, I enjoyed the

So, 3 star. A middling 3 star at that.
There were too many threads going about, I would have prefered more time with the Tsar and also the staryk king should have had a pov. Everyone else did..
I have mixed feelings about this one. Was really liking it up til like the last 1/3 from whereon I basically hated both Miriem and Irina.
There was barely any redemption for both of them atleast in my eyes and I would have rated it a 2 star if I hadn't loved the book uptil that point. ...more
