Reread- still 5 stars! I love the medieval- technological combination, Nimona’s energy and enthusiasm, Blackheart’s kindness. A beautiful story of a beautiful friendship.

I first read this years ago. I remember loving it, but that was it. Then the movie came out and I loved that. Pretty sure I cried. Since the movie, I'd been eager to read it again and well, I have finally gotten around to it.

Nimona has such a fun whimsy to it. This humor made me smile and chuckle. It's so easy to relax while reading this. The art also has the same whimsy to it which can add to the humor at time. Though, I will say that it's not my favorite art, but I did still enjoy it.

One of the saddest parts is that Nimona is a monster, but mainly because she was treated as one.

I appreciate that while Blackheart tried to understand, he still couldn't because, despite being a villain, he played a role deemed necessary by the Institute. He was treated as an outsider but he could, to some extent, still be himself. Nimona couldn't.

Enjoyed the illustrations and the overall color theme especially. Illustrations felt well inspired by the show Adventure Time from Cartoon Network. With similar tendencies. I loved that Nimona wasn't a traditional female sidekick with cute feminine powers but instead leaned toward a tomboy. With a spitfire attitude filled with a confidence in her abilities and a strength in herself to assist Blackheart. Also totally dug the changing hair dues throughout the book. Not the traditional long lusc

This was a cute, fantastical story with an interesting premise. At first, I was unsure if I was going to like this story; but, as I kept reading, the more I enjoyed it. The artwork was cute. I liked Nimona's character, but her past was sad. I also really liked Lord Ballister Blackheart and the banter between him and Nimona.

Lord Blackheart and Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin were best friends at a point in their lives, but some aspects made me think that they were more or wanted to be. But, it never st

Okay...this just became my favorite graphic novel thus far. Nimona is an AWESOME and hilarious character and I loved the brooding yet patient personality of Blackheart. The juxtaposition of the two of them made for a bit of an Odd Couple that I found raucously hilarious.

The art style is cute, but sleek and perfectly colored. There were perhaps a few extraneous fight scene panels, but I was cool with it.

I really appreciated the play with character types. Who is the good guy? Who is the bad guy?
