I don't know how to categorize this book. It's not a romance. It's more a book about love, in all its different kinds of forms. But not quite that either. It's a little bit political, but that's not the focus, it's the relationships of Evelyn Hugo and all the other relationships around her that's the focus.
It's about being human and life I guess. Not to be too grandiose about it.

Wow! This was much better than I expected. It has been given such great reviews that I was leery of the hype, particularly about a Hollywood expose type story. A Hollywood legend tricks a little-known writer into agreeing to do an in-depth interview only to offer a full authorized biography instead. Monique, the writer, is sure there is a catch. Evelyn, the star assures her all the relevant players are deceased and she wants the truth known. The story alternates between Evelyn and Monique, prese

Enchanting writing with an even more enchanting main character. Evelyn Hugo is a big personality and her life is truly entertaining. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised by the character development and details that made this audiobook feel like a movie. I really enjoyed this story!

Taylor Jenkins Reid does it again.
There is something so tragic about Hollywood glamour. Throw in a bisexual Cuban woman who is forced to erase both identities, and that tragedy just increases tenfold. I felt so sorry for Evelyn Hugo, for always trying to hide her true self, and for losing everyone in her life. I cried so much at the end of this book, but I don't regret once reading it, because it was such a beautifully told story. ...more

4.5 stars overall, rounding up because it was awesome!
All I can say is WOW. I am definitely glad I listened to everyone and picked this one up. For some reason when I put it down I wasn’t dying to pick it up back up. However, it was a really quick read. The way it is written you could fly through 50 pages and not even realize. I loved this story and I feel like I knew Evelyn by the end. I definitely think this will be a reread in the future

This was an unexpected love. The storytelling is magnificent and I think I will need to reread one day.
