I’d say 3.5 stars for this sequel to the first amazing book. Probably because it followed that first book is why I can’t give this a great rating.
Trying to summarize without spoilers. The first third of this book Wade is so “woe is me” that it’s hard to focus on all the other things happening in the book. I'm pleasantly surprised after hearing so many negative reviews. Wade isn't as likable in this one but I'm ok with that because to me it was realistic and sometimes I get tired of reading about "perfect" heroes. There were a lot of references I didn't understand but I just let the book take me on the ride. There were some predictable story-telling aspects but because I've already read so many meh books this month, this one stood out because I enjoyed it.

I love this series! I thinks its witty, well written, I live for the nostalgia- as a 90's baby I grew up in the height of the 'throw back to the 80's and with 2 brothers born in the 80's I get most of the references. That being said It is written in such a way that you dont have to get the references. They add to the characters but dont dictate how the characters grow and move in the story.
